As usual, chocolate sales were good, with nearly 1700kg sold to the Royal Hotel, the French Institute and other loyal customers of AEP. LIFE project (Livelihoods and Inclusive Finance Expansion) On 18 November 2016, as part of the USAID LIFE project, AEP in Zahlé hosted a group of men and women from the region, working in small trades. The objective of these focus groups was to better understand the expectations and difficulties encountered when borrowing from banks or private institutions. Different types of borrower, and notably women, were also addressed. The main problems to be encountered when borrowing were likely to be guarantees, high interest rates, rigid repayment and corruption.
